Assembly Worker Job Description This role performs hands-on assembly work in an industrial manufacturing environment, using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and small machinery in a team-based cell. You will follow Standard Work Documentation, Manufacturing Instructions, and Quality Plans to assemble products accurately and consistently. Depending on your experience, you may also perform electrical assembly and soldering, as well as testing and inspection tasks, while working with components that generally weigh 30 pounds or less. Responsibilities + Assemble products in a manufacturing cell by following Standard Work Documentation, Manufacturing Instructions, and Quality Plans. + Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and small machinery to complete assembly tasks safely and efficiently. + Perform mechanical assembly of actuators and related components for various end applications. + Conduct electrical assembly and soldering tasks when qualified and assigned. + Test bearings by running them through thread rolls to verify proper function and quality. + Inspect assembled components and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. + Use tape measures and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and proper fit of parts. + Package finished products according to established procedures to prepare them for shipment. + Lift, move, and handle parts and assemblies weighing up to approximately 30 pounds as part of the assembly process. + Work on an assembly line and within small team cells of about two to three people to meet production goals. + Follow step-by-step instructions and standard operating procedures consistently throughout the shift. + Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety guidelines and company policies. + Adapt to a fast-paced production environment and meet productivity and quality targets. + Participate in training on first shift as required, including for those assigned to second or third shifts. + Demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, and strong work ethic to support long-term production needs. Essential Skills + Ability to follow step-by-step directions and standardized work instructions accurately. + Experience using hand tools and power tools in a production, assembly, or similar environment. + Mechanical aptitude and comfort performing mechanical assembly tasks. + Capability to perform repetitive assembly tasks while seated for extended periods when required. + Ability to lift and handle parts and products up to approximately 30 pounds safely. + Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. + Strong work ethic, including consistent effort and focus throughout the shift. + High reliability and dependable attendance. + Willingness to work in a team setting and collaborate within small assembly cells. + Basic inspection skills, including visually checking parts and using simple measuring tools such as tape measures. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Previous experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred but not required. + Experience with mechanical assembly, general labor, or production work is beneficial. + Experience in electrical assembly or soldering is a plus. + Familiarity with inspection processes and quality-focused work environments is advantageous. + Comfort working with assembly lines and cell-based production structures. + Ability to learn and follow Manufacturing Instructions, Standard Work Documentation, and Quality Plans. + Strong soft skills, including reliability, attendance, and a positive work attitude. + Willingness to train on first shift for approximately two weeks before transitioning to an assigned shift. Work Environment The work environment is clean, temperature-controlled, and well lit, providing a comfortable and safe setting for industrial manufacturing. You will work in small cells of approximately two to three people, encouraging collaboration and support among team members. First shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and second shift runs from 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., with multiple openings on each shift. All new hires, including those assigned to second or third shifts, train on first shift for about two weeks to ensure consistent onboarding. Start dates are structured so that all candidates begin on Mondays, supporting organized training and integration into the team. The role involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, small machinery, and measuring tools in a structured, fast-paced production setting, with the ability to sit during assembly tasks when required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marengo, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00
