Bindery Mechanic - 3rd shift - (Morton Grove area)

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the efficient setup, operation, and maintenance of folding, affixing, and cutting equipment, including roll-to-sheet continuous folders, cut-sheet folders, card affixers with camera matching or read-and-print capabilities, and programmable guillotine cutters.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Review job tickets to determine equipment setup, finished dimensions, card placement, folds, and print alignment; monitor daily changes and adjust as needed. Set up and operate folders, affixers, and cutters according to job specifications, including blade adjustments and programming guillotine cutter channels. Verify trim layouts, finished piece size, and envelope window alignment prior to production. Organize personalized cards and carriers; set up card feeding, gluing, cameras, and folder attachments; verify card placement and mailing compliance (tap test). Run samples and make necessary adjustments; obtain supervisor approval before full production. Operate equipment during production while maintaining quality, accuracy, and production standards. Prepare tray markers, missing number lists, and stage finished product for the next department. Perform routine equipment maintenance, ensure safety compliance, and report malfunctions. Accurately complete production, timekeeping, and system documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience setting up and operating roll-fed folding equipment (MBO, Stahl) with Spedo/MBO sheeters. Experience operating cutters (Lawson) and affixing equipment (Kirk-Rudy, MBO, Gavehren) with camera match systems (MCS).
