AM Training:
Training will be conducted on 1st shift for approximately 4 to 6 months (6 AM•4:30 PM) (After training, it would move to the 2nd shift, 4:00 PM-2:30 AM) Overview Xcel is seeking a reliable Temp to hire Forming Machine Operator to become a vital part of producing high-quality metal components with our team. In this energetic role, you will operate and oversee various forming machinery to shape sheet metal and other materials with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will help ensure our products meet rigorous quality standards while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about manufacturing, fabrication, and mechanical processes to grow their skills in a fast-paced setting. Responsibilities Run assigned mechanical equipment efficiently and safely Ensure all produced items meet quality control requirements. Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment and make necessary adjustments. Read and interpret blueprints when applicable. Utilize required gaging instruments to ensure product specifications are met. Conduct basic level machine set-ups. Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately. Perform all other duties as assigned. Set up, operate, and monitor forming machines such as press brakes, stamping presses, CNC laser cutters, plasma cutters, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and electrical discharge machines to produce parts according to specifications. Use hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and precision measuring instruments for quality inspection and measurement of finished components. Adjust machine settings and tooling to optimize performance and maintain tight tolerances during production runs. Perform routine maintenance on forming equipment to ensure safety and operational efficiency. Operate cranes and forklifts safely to move raw materials or finished products within the workspace. Conduct quality checks throughout the manufacturing process to identify defects or deviations from specifications. Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures. Qualifications Machine operation Precision Measurement Ability to interpret work instructions Ability to follow written and verbal directions Basic mathematical skills Mechanical aptitude Proficiency in operating forming machinery including press brakes, stamping presses, CNC laser cutting systems, plasma cutters, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, electrical discharge machining equipment, and tooling setups. Skilled in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings with GD&T standards for precision manufacturing. Familiarity with CNC programming concepts for efficient machine operation and setup. Ability to use hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring devices for quality inspection. Knowledge of safety procedures related to crane operation, forklift handling, plasma cutting, and electrical safety protocols. Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to machining tolerances, and material estimations. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds repeatedly. Required to stand for extended periods. Must be able to push/pull objects up to 50 pounds. Frequent bending and stooping required. Must have the dexterity to handle small objects. Responsible for the setup and operation of assigned mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment. PPE Requirements Employees are responsible for wearing steel toe shoes on-site Employer is responsible for providing safety glasses and earplugs on-site Pay 23 per hour Pay differential 2.50 (After full training, pay increases to 25.50 per hour once moved to 2nd shift.)
