Multi-Process Manufacturing Operator — Heat Treat, Straighten & Saws Rockford Ball Screw (RBS) Rockford, IL Job Details Full-time $17.00 - $25.50 an hour 4 hours ago Qualifications Basic math Dimensional measurements Precision measurement in machining Full Job Description Your day, at a glance From the first machine warm-up to the final quality check, you'll move fluidly between Heat Treating, Straightening, Blackening, and Saw operations—wherever production needs you most. You'll report directly to the Operations Supervisor and keep production humming by setting up equipment, measuring to tight tolerances, documenting results in ERP, and coordinating with maintenance when issues arise. What you'll do Operate equipment across multiple departments: Heat Treating, Straightening, Blackening, and Saws. Set up, calibrate, and perform changeovers to optimize performance for each production run. Inspect parts throughout the process with precision tools (calipers, micrometers) to verify required tolerances. Log machine performance, part quality, and material usage into ERP systems daily. Partner with maintenance to troubleshoot mechanical issues and reduce downtime. Follow all safety protocols, wear PPE, and sustain a clean, organized work area using 5S methods. Shift between departments to match evolving business needs and maintain efficient flow. Handle materials—moving raw stock and finished goods—using overhead cranes and forklifts. Complete quality assurance checks to confirm company and customer specifications are met. Perform additional tasks as needed to support operations. •Essential Functions •Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work environment and physical demands Typical manufacturing setting. You'll frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 lbs. Expect frequent hand/finger use to operate and adjust equipment, with moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and grasping. Safety gear is required, including safety glasses and steel-toed work boots or shoes. Schedule Full-time (40+ hours per week). Days and hours are set by management. A typical schedule is Monday-Friday, eight (8) hours per day. Overtime, including evenings and weekends, may be required based on demand. Qualifications Must be 18 years or older. High School Diploma/GED or significant, relevant work experience. Proficient with measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges). Comfortable with hand tools (drills, screwdrivers, impacts, etc.). Able to read/write, do basic math, and follow written and verbal instructions.

Preferred:

1-3 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment. Compensation and bonuses Hiring pay range: $17-$25.50 per hour. Pay is determined by several factors that vary by role, including labor markets and, in some cases, education, work experience, knowledge, skills, and certifications. In addition, Rockford Ball Screw employees are bonus eligible. Depending on role and tier, this position is classified in the Quarterly Bonus plan within the Individual Contributor tier.
