Mold Setter (2nd and 3rd Shift) Job Description This role sets up and starts up plastic injection molding machines in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment. You ensure equipment runs safely and efficiently, verify product quality using precision measurement tools, and act as the first line of defense in troubleshooting processing and machinery issues. You work closely with production and leadership to maintain quality standards and provide feedback on process improvements. Responsibilities Set up and start up plastic injection molding machines according to established procedures and production schedules. Ensure safety remains the top priority in all tasks, following all safety policies and using required protective equipment. Verify product quality using micrometers, calipers, comparators, and other inspection and testing devices. Confirm machine and equipment parameters are correctly set to meet quality and production standards. Monitor molding processes in a high-volume, fast-paced environment to maintain consistent output. Identify, monitor, and troubleshoot processing problems as they arise during production. Serve as the first line of defense in troubleshooting machinery issues to minimize downtime. Perform basic adjustments, changeovers, and preventive maintenance tasks as needed to support continuous operation. Read and interpret blueprints and inspection specifications to ensure parts meet requirements. Communicate effectively with management and team members, providing feedback on equipment performance, quality concerns, and process improvements. Document any issues, adjustments, or changes made to machines or processes as required by company procedures. Essential Skills At least 3 years of previous plastic injection molding experience. Proven experience in setting up and operating injection molding machines in a production environment. High mechanical aptitude demonstrated through prior work experience. Ability to troubleshoot molding processes and machinery as the first line of defense. Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, comparators, and other precision measuring tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and inspection specifications. Comfort using hand and power tools for adjustments, changeovers, and basic maintenance. High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) required. Strong attention to detail and quality in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment consistently. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous mold setting, die setting, or process technician experience. Experience specifically in injection molding changeovers and setup. in maintenance or mechanical troubleshooting within a manufacturing setting. Experience with preventive maintenance on molding or related production equipment. Mechanical inclination with the ability to diagnose and address basic mechanical issues. Familiarity with injection moulding tooling and molding processes. Experience working in a mid to large size manufacturing company. Why Work Here? Work Environment You work in a mid to large size, national manufacturing facility focused on high-volume plastic injection molding. The environment is fast-paced, with multiple shifts and rotating overtime based on production needs. Openings are available on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, with typical schedules of 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m., and 10:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m. Overtime is cycled and rotated and may increase during busy periods, and weekend work may be required. You regularly use molding machines, hand and power tools, and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and comparators. Steel toe shoes are required on the production floor, and hearing and eye protection must be worn to ensure safety in the manufacturing environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Auburn, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
