Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Extruder Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining rubber extrusion machinery to produce high-quality rubber products efficiently and safely. Your expertise will help ensure smooth production flow, uphold quality standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Expectations:
Balance safety, quality, productivity, and morale to achieve positive results within the extrusion department. Work to continuously improve in all areas. Assist with achieving daily production requirements and accurately reporting results. Participate in and actively supports the facility safety systems. Understand and utilize the Quality Management System. Troubleshooting machinery. Follow up on production and quality issues as they present themselves with the direction of the Owners, quality manager, operations manager, and supervisor. Practice 5s and lean manufacturing principles, as they are crucial for our operations. Read and understand BOM/Work orders. Be able to read a tape measure and calipers. Read and follow route information for work orders. Clean dies, extruders, purge, clean screws, and mills. Remove simple dies and sizing through instructions. Set up and operate equipment with instructions. Feed material in the extruder. Set up extruder and Mokon temperatures. Basic understanding of and ability to follow tool routing procedure. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in rubber extrusion a plus. Proficiency in machine control and troubleshooting. Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and other measurement tools for quality inspection. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction. Experience with materials handling, warehouse operations, and basic math skills for precise measurements and calculations. Ability to read work instructions related to plastics processing equipment.
