Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description Machine Operators play a crucial role in the pre-production department, preparing parts for the assembly area. This role involves operating various machines such as coating machines, polishing stations, poly lining machines, and Teflon lining machines. The primary responsibility is to transform raw metal materials to specific dimensions, prepare them for welding, coat them appropriately, and ensure the correct lining is applied. Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. Responsibilities Operate machines and equipment in accordance with production standards. Perform visual inspections and functional testing to ensure quality. Read and follow work instructions, drawings, and production schedules. Troubleshoot and resolve basic to intermediate machine or process issues. Maintain accurate records of production and quality results using SAP and other systems. Promote safety and follow TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) processes. Support continuous improvement by identifying and reporting quality or process issues. Essential Skills Ability to stand for the entirety of the shift. High attention to detail with a focus on quality and producing quality parts. Steel-toed or composite shoes. Experience in manufacturing preferred. Experience using hand and power tools. Ability to read, write, and understand English. Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, units of measurement). Ability to lift 50lbs occasionally. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to read blueprints preferred. Quality control or quality inspection experience. Work Environment This role operates on the 1st shift (7:00a-3:45p) or the 2nd shift (3:45p-12:30a) with potential Saturday hours. The facility is temperature-controlled, requiring steel toes, safety glasses, and gloves. The work environment prioritizes quality and safety, focusing on a collaborative culture where employees are encouraged to contribute to process improvements and communicate effectively through whiteboards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenwood, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
