Level III Machinist Job Description We are seeking a skilled Level III Machinist to join our large-scale machine shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating CNC machines, handling raw materials, and ensuring quality through precise measurements. This is a dynamic role where you will be involved in various tasks within the machine shop, contributing to the production process from start to finish. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC machines to produce metal parts according to blueprint specifications. Transport materials using forklifts and pallet jacks. Perform quality checks using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools. Deburr and 'cut plug' using air-powered tools. Assist with general duties around the machine shop to ensure smooth operation. Follow the 'control plan' and maintain quality and process standards. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machinery and equipment. Essential Skills Experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly with CNC machines. Proficiency in using quality measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges. Ability to operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts. Strong math skills, including addition and subtraction. Ability to read metric measuring dials and gauges. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience reading and interpreting blueprints. The environment is temperature-controlled and features a relaxed dress code. Safety is a top priority, with PPE provided, including steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses. Employees are expected to adhere to cell phone and headphone policies to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Shifts are available across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, with scheduled overtime every other Saturday. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.47 - $24.47/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
