Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Plastic Profile Extrusion Process Engineer to lead and optimize profile extrusion operations across eight extrusion lines. This role is responsible for process performance, equipment reliability, product quality, production coordination, and new product introduction activities. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in plastic extrusion processes, hands-on troubleshooting ability, and experience collaborating across production, maintenance, quality, and scheduling teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Extrusion Operations & Process Management Oversee daily operation and performance of eight plastic profile extrusion lines. Monitor and optimize extrusion processes to improve throughput, efficiency, scrap reduction, and product consistency. Establish and maintain process parameters, setup standards, and operating procedures. Troubleshoot extrusion issues including dimensional variation, surface defects, material flow problems, and tooling performance. Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction. Support production teams with technical guidance and process training. Maintenance Coordination Coordinate extrusion equipment maintenance activities with maintenance personnel and production leadership. Develop preventive maintenance recommendations for extrusion lines, tooling, downstream equipment, and auxiliary systems. Assist in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and process-related equipment issues. Support installation, startup, and qualification of new extrusion equipment and tooling. Work closely with maintenance to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability. Production Scheduling & Planning Coordinate with production scheduling to ensure efficient line utilization and on-time order completion. Support production planning through changeover optimization and process readiness. Assist in prioritizing production runs based on customer requirements and operational efficiency. Quality Assurance Oversee product quality standards and ensure compliance with customer specifications. Collaborate with Quality Assurance to investigate non-conformances, implement corrective actions, and reduce defects. Monitor dimensional inspections and process capability metrics. Ensure proper documentation of process controls, inspections, and quality records. Participate in ISO audits and internal quality improvement initiatives. New Product Development & Sampling Manage new product sampling, trial runs, and approval processes. Coordinate tooling trials, process development, and product validation activities. Work with engineering, sales, and customers to ensure successful product launches. Develop and document standard operating parameters for new profiles and materials. Approve production readiness for new products and process changes.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in plastic extrusion manufacturing, preferably profile extrusion. Strong knowledge of thermoplastics, extrusion tooling, calibration systems, and downstream equipment. Experience overseeing multiple extrusion lines in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of quality systems, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies. Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems and extrusion equipment troubleshooting. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing ERP|MRP systems preferred.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS, or engineered thermoplastic profiles. Ability to analyze production data and implement process improvements. Strong project management and cross-functional coordination skills.
