Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Mixing and maintaining all solutions and correct processing temperatures Regulating current input and plating time to obtain desired thickness of plate Understanding and working from formulas and specifications Performing all plating and related tasks to work pieces processed in the plating area Processing parts through a series of vats to anodize, nickel chemical de-burring, penetrate, and chrome plate, passivation, pickle and strip; always following instructions and directions from supervisor and team leads Mixing and loading chemical solutions to replenish treatment tanks Loading and unloading parts from a variety of plating and treatment equipment Dismantling and reassembling parts to aid in treatments Notifying designated individual or supervisor of any operating irregularities, machine malfunctions or anticipated supply needs or shortages Monitoring, training and overseeing less qualified personnel in the department Monitoring and verifying quality in accordance with work instructions, statistical process or any other variances of control procedures prescribed for certifying or testing equipment Cleaning, draining and/or pumping out solution tanks, as directed and sort out/list parts left in tanks Meeting or exceeding schedule/job standard and quality requirements. Practicing 5S requirements and keeping work area and equipment clean and orderly Performing manual work having to do with the handling of materials as needed Following all safety and EH&S requirements and use of personal protective equipment Practicing safety requirements and keeping machine guards in place at all times Openly offering job suggestions for possible improvements such as methods, procedures, ways of doing things, housekeeping, safety, training, etc. Performing other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as directed by Supervisor or other designated individual. Being actively involved and willing to complete all training requirements to advance skills and proficiencies

Education and Experience:
High School/GED preferred At least 2 years of prior plating experience in a manufacturing environment
Competencies and Skills:
Good command of the English language, demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills Basic computer skills required
Continuous:
standing, walking, lifting, bending, pushing/pulling, and reaching
Occasional:
kneeling, sitting, squatting, overhead work, fine and gross upper body motor movement
Physical Demands:
Maximum lift: to 30 pounds and assisted lifting Occasional lifting: 0 to 30 pounds

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:
Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards. The following Personal Protective Equipment is required: Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
