Manufacturing Reports To:
Shift Supervisors Tends one or more machining centers, special purpose machines and/or assembly equipment to machine and assemble metal work pieces and components to specifications on a production basis by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Lifts raw castings manually and secures in fixture. Performs various functions relating to individual and outlined on the Operator Instructions / Process Sheets. Initiates machine cycle. Inspects and measures machined work pieces to verify conformance to pecifications, records, and charts SPC data. Responsible for shutting process down if quality is compromised in any way. Adds coolant to machine reservoir as required. Cleans machined parts by use of air blow off tool. Uses test or assembly equipment as required. Adheres to safety guidelines. Adheres to company rules. Responsible for recording arrival and departure time by use of time clock/card system. Responsible for completing and accuracy of production reporting; quantity, time. Responsible for data entry into the Monitor system to include but not limited to labor reporting and machine downtime. Adheres to company cleanup procedure.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and forms. Ability to write and understand simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and communicate in small group ituations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
