Employment Specialists - 3.1 Grand Rapids, MI Job Details Full-time $18 an hour 7 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Qualifications Teamwork Machine operation High school diploma or GED Attention to detail Time management Full Job Description Position Summary The Converting Assistant plays a key role in supporting the production team by providing administrative assistance, maintaining a clean work environment, and helping with production tasks. Assistant Operators support the Operator in running assigned machines safely, following published work instructions, and delivering quality products according to plan. This role also involves handling finished products, performing basic quality testing, and completing end-of-shift paperwork. Assistants follow all BRC, GMP, and PPE policies to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. Responsibilities Set up and operate converting lines to support high-quality production. Review order specifications to ensure packaging supplies and raw materials are available to meet customer requirements. Observe finished goods and take immediate corrective action if products do not meet standards. Remove and package finished rolls from machines. Monitor equipment for proper operation and perform routine troubleshooting and operator-level maintenance under shift supervisor guidance. Complete daily production paperwork and address stoppages or breakdowns. Assist the Shift Supervisor in training team members on operating procedures, safety, and quality policies. Periodically follow up with new hires and temporary workers to ensure proper training. Identify opportunities for improvement in the Converting Department and support Supervisors with hands-on training. Learn all equipment functions to make adjustments when needed. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Ability to accurately use measurement tools, including rulers, scales, and micrometers. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality. Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams. Leadership and coaching skills in quality-related scenarios. Organizational and time management skills. Strong customer/client focus and teamwork orientation. Adaptability to changing work environments and tasks. Commitment to safety protocols and procedures. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in a science-related field preferred. 1-3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Position Type Full-time Overtime may be required based on business needs Physical Requirements Must be able to lift 30 lbs repeatedly and stand for up to 8 hours. #WSG Pay:
