Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in operating manual Bridgeport lathes, with a strong understanding of manual setup, tool sharpening, and the application of appropriate speeds and feeds. This role requires attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality parts that meet specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Setup and Operation:
Set up and operate manual Bridgeport lathes. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Determine the appropriate tools, attachments, and fixtures needed for each job.
Machining:
Perform machining tasks to create precision components. Adjust machine settings to achieve the required depth, speed, and feed rates based on material and tooling.
Tool Maintenance:
Sharpen and maintain cutting tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Monitor tool wear and replace tools as necessary to maintain production quality.
Quality Control:
Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure adherence to specifications. Document measurements and production processes as required.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with team to meet project timelines and specifications. Communicate any issues or discrepancies in the machining process to supervisors promptly.
Requirements Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or vocational training in machining preferred. Proven experience as a manual machinist, with expertise in lathe and Bridgeport operations.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in manual machining techniques and setups. Strong knowledge of speeds, feeds, and tooling required for various materials. Familiarity with precision measuring instruments.
Personal Attributes:
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Good communication and teamwork abilities.
