Job Title:
Laser Machine Operator Job Description This role involves operating laser and related fabrication equipment to process sheet metal, including loading materials, inspecting parts, and learning to set up and program the machines. The position offers the opportunity to grow from basic machine operation into more advanced setup and programming responsibilities as skills develop. Responsibilities Operate laser machines to process sheet metal according to production requirements. Load sheet metal into laser and related fabrication machines safely and efficiently. Inspect parts and materials for quality, accuracy, and defects during and after processing. Learn and perform basic machine setup tasks under guidance, including tooling and parameter adjustments. Assist with operating related equipment such as press brakes, punch presses, turret presses, and other sheet metal fabrication machinery as needed. Monitor machine performance and promptly report any issues or irregularities to the appropriate personnel. Follow established work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards at all times. Maintain a clean and organized work area around the machines and within the shop. Support continuous improvement efforts by learning new processes, techniques, and programming aspects of the equipment. Collaborate with team members in the fabrication area to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of jobs. Essential Skills At least 6 months of machine operating experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Ability to learn and operate laser cutting machines for sheet metal processing. Basic understanding of machine operation and production workflows. Attention to detail when loading materials and inspecting finished parts. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Commitment to working safely around machinery and fabrication equipment. Willingness to learn machine setup and basic programming functions over time. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with laser operation or laser cutting equipment. Hands-on exposure to press brake, punch press, or turret press machines. Background in sheet metal work or sheet metal fabrication. Mechanical aptitude and interest in learning advanced machine setup and programming. Ability to work effectively in a fabrication shop environment alongside welding and other metalworking operations. The shop is open and spacious, with recently added lighting and tall inventory shelving that reaches the ceiling, contributing to an organized and well-lit workspace. The facility is clean and well cared for, reflecting a focus on maintenance and a professional work setting. You will work around laser machines, press brakes, punch presses, turret presses, and other fabrication equipment, following standard safety practices and appropriate work attire suitable for a fabrication shop. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Arlington, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $54080.00/yr. GREAT company benefits.
