This role requires accurately reading blueprints and tape measures, converting fractions to decimals, and performing physically demanding tasks in a clean, organized, and flexible shop environment. Because the facility is small, the Machine Operator will wear multiple hats, supporting packaging, lighter duties, and occasional forklift operation as needed. Responsibilities Operate fabrication equipment such as brake presses, miter saws, punch presses, and CNC mills to cut and process metal materials according to specifications. Read and interpret blueprints or prints to ensure accurate dimensions and tolerances when processing materials. Use a tape measure accurately and convert fractions to decimals to confirm correct measurements for each job. Perform frequent lifting of materials weighing 50-100 pounds throughout the day in a safe and controlled manner. Support packaging activities, including preparing, labeling, and organizing finished metal products for shipment to customers. Assist with lighter shop duties as needed to keep production flowing smoothly and maintain an efficient workflow. Operate a forklift at times to move, load, or unload metal materials and finished products, following all safety guidelines. Maintain a clean and organized work area, contributing to the overall cleanliness and orderliness of the shop floor. Follow all shop safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials. Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly about job requirements, potential issues, and production priorities. Essential Skills Previous experience running fabrication machines such as brake presses, saws, punch presses, or similar metalworking equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints or prints, or a strong willingness to learn if not yet proficient. Proficiency using a tape measure, including converting fractions to decimals accurately. Capability to lift 50-100 pounds frequently throughout the workday. Comfort working in a hands-on, shop-floor environment with metal materials and fabrication equipment. Ability to focus on work tasks without phone usage during working hours. Additional Skills & Qualifications 1+ years of setup experience on brake presses is preferred. 6+ months of CNC setup experience is a plus. Experience with press brake operation, saw operation, and punch press work. Experience in packaging or preparing metal products for shipment. Ability to adapt to wearing multiple hats in a smaller shop environment and assist where needed. Why Work Here? This is a growing, flexible shop that is getting busier, offering the opportunity to be part of a stable and expanding operation. You will work with a down-to-earth, supportive leadership team in a clean and organized environment. The role includes health, vision, and dental benefits, and allows you to wear headphones and listen to music while you work, supporting a comfortable and focused workday. Work Environment The role is based in a smaller, well-organized metal fabrication facility with a very clean floor and neatly arranged inventory. The shop environment is flexible, with a collaborative culture and approachable leadership. Work involves operating fabrication machinery and handling metal materials, including frequent lifting.
