Job Description

Machine Operator Position Overview This position is responsible for operating and monitoring food production equipment in a high-volume tortilla manufacturing environment. The Machine Operator plays a critical role in ensuring production runs efficiently, product specifications are met, and all food safety standards are consistently followed. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to perform physical tasks throughout the entire shift, and comfort working in a fast-paced, high-temperature production setting. Key Responsibilities Operate production machinery, including mixers and the front end of tortilla production lines, in a safe and efficient manner Start up equipment at the beginning of each shift and verify proper operation; promptly report any issues to maintenance or leadership Replace mesh and Teflon belts safely and correctly to maintain continuous production flow Adjust machine settings to meet required product specifications, including size, weight, and overall quality Verify recipes, seasonings, weights, and system settings during changeovers using the ERP system (Plex) Accurately complete all production documentation and ensure data is properly recorded in system applications Monitor and record production waste using correct settings; investigate and report discrepancies when needed Use HMI/ERP systems to input production data and adjust oven temperatures and belt speeds as required Consistently lift and handle materials up to 50 pounds, including weighing and adding ingredients to mixers Safely move and position mixing bowls and materials throughout the production area Work closely with maintenance to identify and address equipment concerns quickly and effectively Maintain a clean, organized work area in compliance with food safety and operational standards Follow all food safety and food defense protocols to prevent contamination at all times Support sanitation efforts, including proper cleaning and reassembly of equipment Adhere strictly to PPE and gowning requirements, including hair nets, beard nets, and hearing protection Remain on your feet and actively engaged throughout the shift in a continuously moving production environment Coordinate scheduled breaks with leadership to ensure production coverage and efficiency Required Qualifications 1-2 years of experience operating production or manufacturing equipment Previous experience in food production is strongly preferred; bakery or mixing experience is a plus Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-output environment Must be comfortable working in temperatures up to 100°F Ability to consistently lift 30-55 pounds throughout the shift Ability to stand and remain active for up to 8 hours per day Basic computer skills, including data entry and system navigation (ERP/HMI systems such as Plex) Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions in English or Spanish Strong reliability, work ethic, and commitment to consistent attendance Preferred Qualifications Experience in mixing, blending, or similar production processes Familiarity with ERP systems, especially Plex Strong attention to detail when handling ingredients and documenting production data Ability to recognize and escalate process or equipment issues appropriately Willingness to follow strict hygiene and food safety standards without exception Interest in long-term growth within a production environment Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eagan, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
