Job Title:
Laborer - Precast Concrete Manufacturing Job Description This role supports the production of precast concrete walls and structures by performing a wide range of physically demanding tasks in an industrial manufacturing environment. You will assist with casting and finishing concrete slabs, as well as mixing, moving, and handling concrete materials throughout the production process. The position involves long shifts, exposure to outdoor elements, and hands-on work that directly contributes to creating high-quality pre-fabricated concrete products. Responsibilities Assist in the casting and finishing of precast concrete slabs, walls, and structures according to production specifications and quality standards. Perform general labor tasks throughout the concrete manufacturing process, including preparing forms, cleaning work areas, and organizing materials. Mix, move, and distribute concrete and related materials using appropriate tools and equipment to support continuous production flow. Support set-up operations by preparing forms, beds, and work areas for upcoming casting activities on designated shifts. Assist with stripping operations by safely removing cured concrete products from forms and preparing them for yard storage or further processing. Work in the yard area to move, stage, and handle precast concrete products as needed for shipping, storage, or additional processing. Operate or assist with the operation of equipment such as forklifts when required and if qualified, following all safety guidelines. Climb onto and off trailers, catwalks, and beds as needed to perform job duties safely and efficiently. Lift, carry, and position materials weighing up to 65 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift. Follow all safety procedures, wear required personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure production goals are met and work is completed efficiently. Adapt to varying shift lengths, typically 10-12 hours, and work until production needs are met for the day. Essential Skills Ability to perform physically demanding labor for 10-12 hour shifts on a consistent basis. Capability to lift up to 65 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday. Ability to climb onto and off trailers safely as part of daily tasks. Ability to get up and down from catwalks and beds to perform work at different heights. Comfort working in an industrial concrete manufacturing environment with harsh conditions. Willingness to work outdoors in all seasons, including exposure to cold, heat, rain, and snow. Previous experience in general labor, construction, landscaping, concrete work, or similar physically demanding roles. Ability to follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment as required. Reliable attendance and willingness to work variable end times based on production needs. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in construction, landscaping, or concrete work is highly beneficial. General labor background in industrial or manufacturing settings is an advantage. Forklift experience or certification is a plus for yard and material handling duties. Ability to work various shifts, including day, evening, night, and weekend hours as needed. Comfort working in a unionized environment and following established work rules and procedures. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in an industrial concrete manufacturing facility focused on producing precast concrete products. The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor areas, with exposure to harsh conditions such as cold, heat, rain, and snow. You must be comfortable working in all weather conditions throughout the year. The job is physically demanding and involves frequent lifting, climbing, and movement around trailers, catwalks, and beds. Shifts typically run Monday through Friday, with most days lasting 10-12 hours and end times varying based on production needs. Available shift types include PM set-up starting around noon, PM casting starting in the afternoon, PM stripping starting in the evening, overnight AM set-up starting around midnight (including Sunday-Thursday options), and various yard shifts including early morning, second shift, and night strip starting in the evening. The environment is fast-paced, production-driven, and safety-focused, with the use of industrial equipment such as forklifts and concrete handling tools, and a practical, work-appropriate attire is expected to support safe and efficient performance of duties. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savage, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.75/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
