About the Role Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Slitter Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and specifications. This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Shift:
1st Shift - 5:30am - 4:00pm What You'll Do Observes all safety and LOTO rules to operate equipment efficiently and effectively. Performs advanced setup and calibration of all equipment. Inspects materials for quality issues before, during, and after production. Records and reports any deficiencies in quality to the supervisor/quality department. Maintains equipment tooling and tools necessary for job completion. Diagnoses equipment and quality problems while minimizing scrap and delays. Completes reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap material. Assists maintenance in repairs and preventive maintenance of equipment. Participates in continuous improvement programs. Performs housekeeping tasks to keep work areas clean and safe. Performs other duties as assigned by management. Who You Are Ability to read and write and maintain production records and logs. Manufacturing or related industrial experience preferred. Ability to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions. Experience with measuring devices such as tape measure, micrometers, and calipers. Ability to operate forklift, crane, and other necessary equipment. Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently. Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is required. Leads and promotes health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy. Physical Abilities Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Requires constant movement, manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Ability to remain in a stationary position for several hours. Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. Must be able to stand for 10-12 hours. Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
