Job Description

The Weigh Up_Batching Operator/Material Handling creates batches of materials by weighing and mixing dyes, pigments and chemical additives for use in various plastic materials. They carefully follow safety and cleaning protocols, and ensure that product is made accurately, according to specifications, avoiding waste of time and resources. The Material Handler relocates raw material, products, stock, and other materials to the appropriate areas. They are responsible for feeding materials and removing finished product and waste from production machines to ensure production schedules are met efficiently. They operate machinery such as forklifts and pallet jacks with utmost attention to safety protocols. This position works independently with minimal supervision and is able to handle most situations of the job. Weigh out quantities of powdered or liquid dyes and chemicals, following formula on batch ticket. Pour dyes and chemicals into various mixing machines and operates to specifications. Pour batches of colorants and additives into bags or containers after mixing is completed. Complete required paperwork and ensure process consistency. Keep work area organized and safe at all times. Comply with all EHS requirements. Additional duties as assigned, including housekeeping and assisting in other areas. Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 2 to 7 years' related experience and/or training (preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write basic, routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak team members and supervisors.
Mathematical Skills:
Basic arithmetic skills in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute weight, volume, ratios, percentage, and unit conversion.
Reasoning Skills:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
Basic keyboarding, computer navigation, and data entry skills; ability to use training (LMS) and safety compliance software/mobile apps and email.

N/A Physical Demands:
The employee is constantly required to hear in work environments up to 80-100< dB; stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, grasp and/or feel. They are frequently required to speak; reach with hands and arms, including overhead; push and pull up to < 300 lbs. and over short distances; climb or balance; bend and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. They are occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to high heat (seasonal), wet and/or humid conditions, and outside weather conditions (work areas are not climate controlled). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
