Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description The Machine Operator plays a key role on the production team by setting up and operating manufacturing equipment, performing thorough quality checks on finished products, and accurately recording production data in Excel. This position requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to work independently on an overnight shift from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Responsibilities Set up, operate, and monitor production machinery in accordance with established production specifications and procedures. Ensure machines run efficiently and safely throughout the shift, making adjustments as needed to maintain optimal performance. Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment and promptly report any mechanical issues or abnormalities. Inspect products during and after production to verify they meet quality standards and product specifications. Use measuring tools, such as tape measures, and visual inspection techniques to confirm product dimensions and quality. Document defects, nonconformances, and inconsistencies, and report them to the appropriate supervisor or team lead. Record production output, downtime, and quality metrics accurately in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Maintain detailed and accurate logs of machine performance, production runs, and product quality results. Generate daily and weekly production and quality reports as required by the production team or management. Follow all safety protocols, procedures, and company policies while operating machinery and performing all tasks. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area to support safety and efficient operations. Participate in safety training sessions and actively contribute to a safe and compliant work environment. Use appropriate hand tools to support machine setup, adjustments, and basic maintenance as needed. Collaborate with team members and production staff to meet production goals and resolve issues promptly. Work independently during the shift, managing time and tasks effectively to meet production and quality targets. Essential Skills Proven ability to set up, operate, and monitor manufacturing machinery in a production environment. Experience with machine operation, including starting, stopping, and adjusting equipment safely and efficiently. Demonstrated skill in performing quality inspection and product inspection during and after production. Ability to conduct preventive maintenance on machinery as necessary to reduce downtime. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel for recording production output, downtime, and quality metrics. Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to product quality and accuracy. Capability to use measuring tools, such as tape measures, and visual inspection techniques to verify product specifications. Ability to follow safety protocols and company policies in a manufacturing setting. Capacity to work independently and as part of a team to achieve production goals. Reliable attendance and ability to work a 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a manufacturing or machine operation role is preferred. Experience with general production tasks and use of basic hand tools. Comfort working with preventive maintenance routines and reporting mechanical issues. Strong organizational skills for maintaining accurate logs and documentation. The schedule runs from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., requiring comfort with overnight hours in a production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Monroe, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
