We contract directly with local growers to provide the freshest possible grains at the best possible prices and our two wildlife food processing facilities are located in the heart of sunflower seed and grain-growing regions. Position Summary:
The Machine Operator is responsible for the efficient operation of production lines in our wild bird seed production facility. This role involves setting up, monitoring, and troubleshooting production equipment to ensure high-quality, timely, and accurate processing of bird seed products. The Line Operator plays a key role in maintaining production schedules, adhering to quality standards, and ensuring a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Operation:
Operate and monitor production line machinery including packaging, sewing, and labeling equipment. Adjust machine settings as needed to accommodate different product specifications and ensure optimal performance. Perform regular checks to ensure equipment is functioning correctly and efficiently.
Production Monitoring:
Oversee the production process, ensuring that the line is running smoothly and efficiently. Monitor product quality and make adjustments to equipment or processes to meet quality standards. Track production metrics and report any deviations from standard processes or quality issues to the Production Supervisor.
Setup and Changeovers:
Prepare and set up equipment for different production runs, including changing out components and adjusting settings. Execute changeovers between different product types with minimal downtime.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
Identify and resolve minor equipment malfunctions or production issues. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting equipment. Report major equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the Maintenance Department .
Quality Control:
Conduct regular quality checks to ensure products meet specifications and standards. Maintain accurate records of quality checks and production data.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Adhere to company policies and regulatory requirements related to food safety and production.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operation and resolution of any issues. Communicate effectively with other departments, such as Maintenance and Quality Control, to address any production-related concerns.
Qualifications:
Experience:
1-2 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment is preferred Ability to operate and troubleshoot production machinery Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control. Basic mathematical skills for monitoring production metrics and making adjustments. Ability to lift and move heavy objects as required. Capability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Willingness to work flexible hours, including potential overtime or weekend shifts.
Working Conditions:
Primarily based in a production facility with exposure to machinery, noise, and dust. Requires standing, bending, and physical exertion for extended periods. Adheres to all safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
