Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Process Operator position must possess good decision making and prioritization skills. In order to be proficient in this position, individuals must complete DakotaMB's comprehensive training program. Our Operator program details how to operate the grain cleaning, milling, flaking, and cracking systems. Qualified individuals are also competent in all food safety, OSHA, and manufacturing procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. General Duties a. Properly blends assorted grains to make the correct baking mix, cereal, or other finished good and component product. b. Monitors flaking, cracking, and cutting systems to ensure product is within specification. c. Monitors cleaning house and receives raw materials to ensure clean and quality products enter facility. d. Supervises his crew in an efficient manner to ensure deadlines are met. e. Follows established procedures to ensure the highest quality of mix, cereal or other finished good. f. Assists in the training of new millers, auto-pack operators (Line 3 only) and packers. 2. Documentation and Record Keeping a. Maintains accurate inventory levels through proper use of the Barcoding System. b. Documents actions by completing production and quality forms. 3. Teamwork, Efficiency, and Safety a. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. b. Shall ensure the daily functions to maintain all food safety objectives and The SQF Code are adhered to. c. Able to work a rotating shift and weekend schedule. d. Follows all Safety Policies with regards to Lock-Tag-Try, Fall Protection, Confined Space, and all other OSHA regulations. e. Acts as an alternate for all DSM Miller, Packer, Blender, and Outside Receiving Operator positions. 4. Performs any task the supervisor deems necessary for completion or modification of a project. 5. Maintenance and Housekeeping a. Maintain packaging machines and equipment in safe working order. b. Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs. c. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Do clean out after each run of the packer to prevent cross contamination of products.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Minimum of 3 months milling experience. 2. Familiar with the flow of grain in a milling process. 3. Possess knowledge of grain cleaning procedures and steam properties of various grains.
