We are seeking a skilled and dependable Directional Boring & Hydro-Vac Machine Operator to join our underground utility construction team. This position is responsible for operating specialized equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utilities while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
Position Responsibilities:
Operate horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment for underground utility installations Operate hydro-vac excavation equipment for safe utility locating and excavation Perform pre-trip and daily equipment inspections Read and interpret job plans, utility drawings, and locate markings Assist with setup, drilling operations, bore tracking, and restoration activities Maintain accurate communication with crew members, foremen, and project managers Follow all OSHA safety standards, company policies, and jobsite procedures Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Qualifications:
Previous experience operating directional boring equipment and/or hydro-vac trucks preferred Knowledge of underground utility construction practices Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Class A CDL + Tanker Endorsement required with good driving record Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong commitment to workplace safety
