Job Description

Bogue Machine Company has been in continuous operation for over 50 years and is going strong. Increased demand from our prestigious client base necessitates increased staffing. Our fast-paced Machine Shop is seeking an experienced machine operator to join our team. Job Overview Operators are responsible for, operating, and maintaining machinery or equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. Key Responsibilities Operators perform a variety of tasks including: Operating machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring production targets and quality standards are met. Monitoring systems to detect malfunctions or deviations and performing troubleshooting or minor adjustments as needed. Maintenance of machines as needed, including routine checks, preventive maintenance, and reporting issues to technicians. Documentation and reporting, such as recording production data, maintenance logs, and compliance with safety regulations. Assisting in setup and calibration of machines, including pre-production preparations and adjustments to maintain accuracy. Required Skills and Qualifications Operators typically need a combination of technical, physical, and cognitive skills: Technical skills: Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and safety instructions; basic math skills including fractions, decimals, ratios, and percentages. Understanding and operation of basic measuring tools required and learn how to use them (Calipers, Depth Mic, OD mic, Indicators, Scales).
Problem-solving:
Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and make practical decisions in situations with limited standardization. Knowledge of and ability to learn product handling, material types, part defect identification, machine tooling identification, and observation of machine wear. Knowledge of deburring techniques.
Physical requirements:
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks safely.
Attention to detail:
Ensuring dimensional accuracy through precision measurement performance to the 4th place decimal. Quality control, and Production standards adherence.
Communication and teamwork:
Collaborating with co-workers, supervisors, and maintenance teams to maintain smooth operations. Handles basic tasks, learns systems, and follows standard procedures under supervision.
