This role ensures boards are coated accurately, consistently, and in accordance with workmanship standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures. The operator works closely with technicians, leads, and quality personnel to maintain throughput, quality, and process stability. Key Responsibilities Machine Operation & Production Set up, operate, and monitor conformal coating equipment (selective spray, automated systems, or manual-assisted processes). Load and unload PCBAs, ensuring correct orientation, fixturing, and program selection. Start, stop, and adjust machine parameters as directed by work instructions or process documentation. Monitor coating application for proper coverage, thickness, and alignment during production runs. Process Monitoring & Quality Perform in-process inspections using UV light, magnification, or inspection lamps to verify coating quality. Identify coating defects such as skips, bubbles, bridging, overspray, or masking issues. Escalate quality concerns or recurring defects to leads, supervisors, or process engineering. Support minor touch-up or corrective actions as trained and approved. Masking & Board Preparation Apply and remove masking materials per work instructions prior to and after coating. Prepare boards for coating by verifying cleanliness, masking integrity, and traveler accuracy. Assist with demasking and post-coating handling to prevent damage to coated assemblies. Equipment & Material Handling Refill coating materials, solvents, and consumables following safety and handling procedures. Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance tasks. Maintain coating equipment, fixtures, and workstations in a clean and organized condition. Properly label, store, and handle chemicals in accordance with safety and environmental requirements. Documentation & Reporting Accurately complete travelers, production logs, and inspection checklists. Record lot information, machine settings (as required), and any process deviations. Communicate production status, downtime, or issues during shift handoffs. Compliance & Safety Follow all manufacturing instructions, IPC workmanship standards, and ESD control procedures.
