Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Formulation Technician role is responsible for accurately weighing, staging, and preparing raw materials in accordance with batch cards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while ensuring compliance with GMP and safety standards. This position progresses from learning and executing basic formulation tasks to independently completing batch formulations with efficiency, accuracy, and minimal deviations. A successful technician demonstrates strong technical competence, maintains high documentation accuracy, supports team productivity, and contributes to continuous improvement in batch quality and cycle times.
Responsibilities:
Accurately weigh, measure, and stage raw materials with minimal errors Follow all SOPs, GMP guidelines, and safety protocols (PPE, chemical handling, documentation) Complete batch documentation in real time with high accuracy Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready workstation Safely operate forklifts and other equipment to move materials Identify and report discrepancies, deviations, or safety concerns immediately Demonstrate continuous improvement by reducing errors over time Complete required training on time Other duties as assigned 90-
Day Expectations:
Independently complete batch cards accurately and on schedule with minimal errors Formulate multiple batches while maintaining quality and efficiency standards Troubleshoot common process and material flow issues Identify and report deviations early to prevent rework Improve batch cycle times without sacrificing safety or quality Maintain and encourage others to maintain a clean, audit-ready documentation and workstation consistently Train and assist new team members as needed Serve as a reliable resource for timely batch completion
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required 1-3 years of formulation or manufacturing experience preferred Previous material handling experience required Forklift certification (Sit-Down, Stand-Up, or Cherry Picker) Basic math skills (weights, measurements, unit conversions) Ability to read and follow batch cards and SOPs precisely Understanding of basic equipment operation (mixers, mills, scales) Strong understanding of GMP standards and ability to work in regulated environments Proven ability (or ability to develop) to complete batch cards independently with minimal supervision Demonstrated history (or potential) of low deviation and documentation error rates Ability to maintain consistent attendance and reliability Demonstrated ability to follow instructions without repeated rework Push, pull, lift, & carry heavy products or equipment weighing up to 100 lbs., lift up to 50 lbs. regularly Able to extend arms with hands over the head or at shoulder height Hold, grasp or turn with the use of hands Ascend or descend ladders and platforms, walk at heights at least six feet or higher Stand for extended periods, frequent bending, stooping, reaching Work in an environment that is noisy, dusty and may contain spices with high heat intensity Must be able to read and write English Wear PPE as required
