Job Description

Job Title:
Formulation Technician Job Description The Formulation Technician supports the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products by setting up, operating, cleaning, and maintaining production and packaging equipment in a controlled, cGMP-compliant environment. This role follows detailed batch records, work instructions, and standard operating procedures to ensure products are manufactured safely, accurately, and efficiently while meeting all regulatory and quality requirements. Responsibilities Learn and perform assigned manufacturing and packaging processes by closely following approved batch records, work instructions, standard operating procedures, and current good manufacturing practices. Set up, change over, program, and operate a variety of manufacturing and packaging equipment, including mixers, extruders, welders, dryers, and pouch sealers. Prepare manufacturing areas and equipment for the production of pharmaceutical products, ensuring all equipment and workspaces meet cleanliness and readiness standards. Safely operate computer-controlled equipment used in dispensing, granulation, compression, and coating processes. Disassemble, clean, and reassemble equipment using basic hand tools in accordance with SOPs and work instructions. Clean facilities, equipment, and utensils as required, maintaining high standards of hygiene and compliance with cGMP requirements. Complete accurate and legible documentation for all manufacturing and packaging activities, including batch records and logbooks. Maintain work areas in a safe, organized, and efficient manner, following all policies, procedures, cGMPs, SOPs, and batch record instructions. Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process issues to support continuous, reliable production. Identify and communicate opportunities to improve safety, quality, and efficiency, and actively participate in initiatives that support a learning organization. Work on routine to semi-routine assignments, using sound judgment to recognize and escalate issues as needed. Operate and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment to maintain consistent production output and product quality. Perform duties in other work areas as required to support overall production needs. Handle and move materials, including drums and containers, using appropriate equipment such as stand-up forklifts and walkie stackers, while following all safety protocols. Essential Skills High school diploma or equivalent. Approximately 1 year of previous experience in a manufacturing environment within pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or food processing industries strongly preferred. Ability to follow cGMP and other regulatory requirements and maintain compliance with SOP, cGMP, EHS, and other assigned training curricula. Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting manufacturing and packaging equipment in a production setting. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to disassemble and reassemble various types of equipment, preferably in a GMP facility. Basic reading comprehension and math skills sufficient to follow detailed technical instructions and perform BPR calculations. Effective written and oral communication skills to document work clearly and collaborate with colleagues. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to manipulate and handle drums weighing up to 200 lbs and lift containers weighing up to 90 lbs using proper techniques and equipment. Ability to hand-scoop up to 5 lbs intermittently throughout the workday. Ability to operate a stand-up forklift and walkie stacker, following all safety procedures. Ability and willingness to wear required personal protective equipment, including white zone gowning and various styles of respirators (half-face, hooded, full-face, and dust mask). Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or food processing manufacturing environment. Prior experience working in a GMP-regulated facility. Familiarity with APACS or similar computer-based control systems. Experience with formulation, blending, mixing, packaging, and related production activities. Understanding of FDA-regulated environments and quality control practices. Comfort working with standard operating procedures, batch records, and quality documentation. Demonstrated ability to recognize and respond to routine and semi-routine production issues. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility with a climate-controlled environment and strict GMP standards. You will work primarily on a night shift schedule from Monday to Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The position involves regular use of computer-controlled equipment and various production machines such as mixers, extruders, welders, dryers, and pouch sealers. You will handle materials including drums and containers, and operate material-handling equipment such as stand-up forklifts and walkie stackers. The role requires consistent use of personal protective equipment, including white zone gowning and different types of respirators, to maintain product quality and personal safety in a controlled production area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cincinnati, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.86/hr.
