ABOUT THE
ROLEOperate and monitor a CNC robotic plasma cutting system (e.g., Lincoln Electric PythonX, Peddinghaus 1100) to process structural steel components beams, channels, angles, tube, and plate according to production drawings and cut files. This role is responsible for machine setup, material handling, in-process quality checks, and routine operator-level maintenance to keep throughput on schedule. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIESLoad, measure, and align raw material (beams, plate, tube) on infeed conveyors per part specificationsImport and verify part/cut files in machine software (e.g., VersaFab, FullCircle CNC) against job drawingsLaunch and monitor automated cutting cycles; intervene on faults, torch issues, or material jamsPerform first-piece and in-process inspections (dimensions, bevel angles, hole locations) using tape measure, square, and calipers; document per FPY/inspection proceduresMark, sort, and stage finished parts for downstream fitting/weldingPerform daily operator maintenance: consumable changes (electrodes, nozzles, shield caps), dust collector checks, torch height sensor calibrationReport material defects, machine alarms, or quality issues to supervisor/maintenance promptlyMaintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with shop JSAs (material handling, crane/rigging where applicable)Track production counts and downtime for shift reporting
WHAT WERE LOOKING
FOR1+ years in a fabrication, CNC, or machine operation environment (structural steel preferred)Ability to read structural drawings/blueprints and basic GD&TBasic computer literacy; comfort with touchscreen HMI and CNC software navigationStrong attention to detail and dimensional accuracyPhysically able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for full shift, and work around overhead crane operationsForklift/crane-assisted material handling experience a plusPrior experience on a robotic/CNC plasma system (PythonX, Peddinghaus, Voortman, etc.) preferredFamiliarity with AWS D1.1 or structural fabrication tolerances preferredBasic troubleshooting of plasma consumables and torch alignment preferred
