Job Description SUMMARY To schedule, expedite, and process master heat and part proving materials in compliance with customer specifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Scheduling and Preparation Objective:
to prioritize the processing of test materials and schedule furnace operations.
Essential Job Functions:
Prioritizes test samples requests from operations and lab departments. Schedules and prepares vacuum and air casting of master heat test bars. Reviews documentation and Technique Card to determine test bar processing requirements. Inspects parts for contamination; loads materials for processing. Straightens test material for age cycles. Expedites and supplies all HIP load qualifying test material. Transports materials and alloys to other PCC facilities as needed.
Furnace Operations Objective:
to operate air and vacuum furnaces, ensuring compliance with specifications and proper furnace operating procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
Operates air furnace systems; monitors throughout the heat treat process. Operates vacuum furnace systems; checks pumping system prior to operation; monitors operations throughout the heat treat process, including vacuum levels and temperature. Initiates and monitors data acquisition system. Programs furnace temperature controllers as needed. Cleans and maintains vacuum furnace.
Cleaning Objective:
to remove gating and shell materials from test materials.
Essential Job Functions:
Removes gating material using abrasive saws and grinders. Sandblasts test materials to remove shell material.
Documentation and Recording Objective:
to document, track and record test materials throughout the processing cycle to assure lot integrity.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintains logs of test materials by lot number and other identifications. Documents heat treat processing. Marks test bars. Coordinates operations with planning, operations, shipping and lab personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education & Experience Experience in shell removal and/or foundry or heat treat operations preferred or the equivalent combination of experience and training. Required Skills & Abilities Ability to read and follow specifications of Technique Cards and Process Control Procedures, and to follow verbal instructions. Ability to work independently. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and understand fractions. Physical ability to perform the essential job functions. Valid drivers license to drive PCC vehicles between facilities.
