Job Title:
Packaging Technician Job Description The Packaging Technician supports the assembly, filling, packaging, and labeling of pharmaceutical products in a highly regulated cleanroom environment. This role follows current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and customer requirements to ensure products meet strict quality and safety standards. The position operates on 1st shift from 6:45 AM to 2:45 PM and involves working in primary, secondary, refrigerated, and freezer environments as needed. Responsibilities Apply current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and customer requirements consistently in all work activities. Comply with all safety regulations and perform all tasks in a safe, efficient, and controlled manner. Perform manual or automated assembly, manufacturing, filling, packaging, and labeling of pharmaceutical products while ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards. Serve as the primary performer of in-process inspections and Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) inspections to verify product quality. Accept or reject in-process clinical supplies and drug products based on established quality criteria. Complete computer-based tasks, including signing in to jobs, recording in-process actions, and entering data accurately into electronic systems. Participate in the start-up, operation, and closure of packaging jobs, ensuring all steps follow documented procedures. Clean packaging rooms, equipment, and machinery according to SOPs and cGMP requirements to maintain a controlled and compliant environment. Perform accurate counts of components and drug products to support inventory control and batch documentation. Interpret 2D diagrams and batch paperwork to ensure proper assembly and configuration of clinical supplies. Follow written English work documents, including SOPs, work instructions, knowledge assessments, cGMP guidelines, and safety procedures, and execute tasks accordingly. Work independently or as part of a team to complete assigned tasks, taking initiative and following through on commitments. Adapt to changing circumstances, incorporate feedback, and support corrective and preventive actions as needed. Essential Skills Demonstrated ability to apply cGMP, SOPs, and quality standards in a production or packaging environment. Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity, with the ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently using both hands. Attention to detail and accuracy in assembly, filling, packaging, labeling, and inspection activities. Working mathematical skills, including counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages. Ability to interpret 2D diagrams and batch documentation to ensure correct assembly of clinical supplies. Capability to read, comprehend, and execute English work documents, including SOPs, work instructions, knowledge assessments, cGMP, and safety procedures. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete tasks on time and according to procedure. Willingness and ability to accept feedback and learn from corrective or preventive actions. Physical ability to stand continuously, frequently bend and squat, reach above shoulder level, and lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in primary, secondary, refrigerated (2 to 8° C), and freezer (down to approximately -20° C) environments, including spending a significant portion of the day in cold or freezer areas if needed. Comfort using computers to log in to jobs, perform in-process actions, and enter data accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with assembly, packaging, and labeling in a cleanroom or pharmaceutical environment. Familiarity with quality inspection practices, including in-process and AQL inspections. Experience working in environments that require strict gowning procedures and adherence to contamination control practices. Ability to take initiative, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain productivity in a fast-paced setting. Comfort working with personal protective equipment such as filtering face masks, N-95 masks, powered air-purifying respirators (PAPR), half-face masks, and safety glasses. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a full-time 1st shift position, working from 6:45 AM to 2:45 PM in a pharmaceutical production and packaging facility. The work takes place primarily in a cleanroom environment that requires full gowning, as outlined in standard cleanroom procedures. You will work in primary and secondary packaging areas as well as refrigerated (2 to 8° C) and freezer environments (down to approximately -20° C), and may spend a substantial portion of the day in cold or freezer conditions when required. The facility emphasizes strict adherence to cGMP, SOPs, and safety procedures, and the role requires the use of personal protective equipment, including but not limited to filtering face masks, N-95 masks, PAPRs, half-face masks, and safety glasses. Additional hourly pay differentials apply for time worked while using PAPR or working in refrigerated and freezer environments. The work involves standing for long periods, frequent bending and reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive manual tasks. Dress code follows cleanroom and safety requirements, including gowning and appropriate protective equipment at all times in controlled areas. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allentown, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.70/hr.
