Machine Operator - Production and Packaging Job Description This role operates and monitors production and packaging machinery in a clean, modern facility, ensuring products are manufactured in the correct quantities and according to agreed specifications. The Machine Operator prepares equipment for mold changes, maintains high cleanliness standards, and performs regular quality checks throughout the shift while supporting continuous improvement and training efforts. Responsibilities Start and stop production and packaging machinery safely and according to established procedures. Monitor material control, including weight distribution, regrind levels, and tail lengths, to maintain consistent product quality. Perform regular quality control checks and visual inspections throughout the shift to ensure products meet specifications. Prepare machines for mold changes, including setup, adjustments, and verification of correct configurations. Ensure goods are produced in the correct quantities and in accordance with agreed specifications and quality standards. Accurately record goods produced and document any problems or issues encountered during the shift. Assist with mold and color changes as needed in coordination with other team members. Support training efforts by helping new or less experienced team members learn equipment operation and procedures. Maintain high cleanliness standards for machines and the work area, following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Work with multiple types of equipment simultaneously while maintaining safe and efficient operations. Identify and troubleshoot basic equipment issues and escalate more complex problems as needed. Perform labelling, packaging, and inspection tasks to ensure finished products are properly identified and meet quality requirements. Essential Skills Ability to safely start and stop machinery following established procedures. Capable of lifting up to 25-35 pounds and standing for a minimum of 12 hours per shift. Ability to work with multiple types of equipment simultaneously in a production environment. Strong attention to cleanliness and adherence to high standards for machines and work areas. Experience with machine operation in a production, general labor, or general manufacturing setting. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and their application in a production or food manufacturing environment. Experience with packaging, machine operating, labelling, inspection, troubleshooting, and quality control tasks. Familiarity with plastic processing and injection molding operations. Ability to follow detailed instructions, record production data accurately, and communicate issues clearly. Capability to work 12-hour shifts, including overnight hours as scheduled. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in plastic or food manufacturing environments. Experience with injection mold equipment and mold change procedures. Experience in quality-focused roles involving inspection and documentation. Comfort working in a fast-paced production setting with changing priorities. Work Environment The role is based in a new, clean building designed to support safe operations and the ability to maintain social distancing. The facility follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and emphasizes high cleanliness standards. Personal protective equipment includes steel-toe footwear, and the environment involves working with plastic and injection molding equipment as well as packaging and inspection stations. The schedule consists of 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 pattern, with core hours from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., and initial training provided on the day shift. The position requires prolonged standing, moderate lifting, and working around production machinery in a structured, safety-conscious setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bethlehem, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr.
