Job Title:
Machine Operator -$23 Job Description This role involves working on a daylight shift in a brick manufacturing facility, performing repetitive general labor and machine operation tasks to support continuous production. You will handle bricks directly from the kiln, stack them on a monorail system, and assist with various brick manufacturing processes, including mixing materials, setting up applications, and maintaining equipment. Responsibilities Perform repetitive general labor by removing bricks from kiln carts and stacking them on the monorail in a consistent and safe manner. Stand in a designated work area and continuously move bricks, maintaining a steady workflow throughout the shift. Assist in all brick manufacturing operations to ensure efficient and high-quality production. Mix sands for sand applications, and set up and maintain sand application systems according to production requirements. Mix slurry for slurry applications, and set up and maintain all aspects of slurry application processes. Clean, maintain, install, and adjust dies, heads, and cutting blades to support safe and effective machine operation. Monitor the quality of bricks being produced and take action or notify appropriate personnel when issues arise. Track production schedules and ensure paints and sands are prepared and available for product changeovers. Maintain all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and accurately complete inventory tracking documents. Observe department equipment during operation, report any issues, and assist in equipment maintenance and repairs as directed. Use hand and power tools, including those related to carpentry, construction, and welding, as needed for production and maintenance tasks. Follow preventive maintenance practices to help reduce downtime and extend equipment life. Read and interpret blueprints and use knowledge of pneumatics and mechanical systems to support production and troubleshooting. Adhere to all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area. Essential Skills Previous manufacturing experience preferred. Strong mechanical skills and mechanical understanding. Mechanically inclined with the ability to work with machines, tools, and equipment. Attention to detail to ensure consistent product quality and accurate documentation. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly during the shift. Ability to perform repetitive tasks while standing for extended periods. Willingness to learn new processes and take direction from supervisors and leads. General labor and production experience in an industrial or construction environment. Experience with machine operation in a manufacturing setting. Ability to safely use hand and power tools. Capability to assist with bricklaying-related tasks as needed. Basic understanding of repair and preventive maintenance concepts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Production experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience using power tools and hand tools in a safe and controlled manner. Exposure to welding tasks and basic welding skills. Ability to read and understand blueprints. Familiarity with pneumatics and related mechanical systems. Experience supporting equipment repair and preventive maintenance activities. Strong work ethic and reliability, with a commitment to safety and quality. Openness to cross-training into machine operator and mechanic roles over time. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is a daylight opportunity, typically Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the possibility of Saturday shifts during busy periods at the same hours. You work in a brick manufacturing facility that operates production equipment, kilns, and material handling systems, and you will spend most of your time on your feet in a designated area performing repetitive tasks. The environment involves handling bricks, working around machinery, and using hand and power tools, with a focus on safe operation and adherence to standard operating procedures. Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses are required, and the company provides safety glasses; you must wear steel-toed footwear and long pants as part of the dress code. No certifications or medical clearances are required for this role. The facility emphasizes safety, proper use of personal protective equipment, and collaboration with maintenance and production teams to keep operations running smoothly. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Springdale, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
