Job Description

SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Machine Operator
JOB SUMMARY
Set up and operate computer-controlled equipment to apply solder paste, dispense adhesive, place electronic components, and process printed circuit boards (PCBs) with precision, efficiency, and quality.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Below is a listing of the job functions this position performs. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Read and follow work instructions and setup guidelines to ensure proper machine operation.
  • Enter computer commands to program screen printing and component placement machines.
  • Load components into machine feeders using reels, trays, or tubes.
  • Position PCBs on conveyor systems and monitor machine operations.
  • Inspect assembled PCBs for defects, including missing or misaligned components.
  • Set up and operate reflow ovens to process populated PCBs.
  • Perform final inspections and rework defective solder joints as needed.
  • Operate routing and depaneling equipment to separate PCBs from arrays.
  • Report machine malfunctions to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
  • Record production data, including output, downtime, and defects.
  • Make minor machine adjustments and clear equipment jams.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and document service activities.
  • Immediately report safety, quality, production, or personnel concerns.
  • Stop production or shipments when safety or quality issues are identified.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in this role, an individual should meet these minimum education and experience requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One to three years of SMT experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
To perform the job successfully, an individual should be able to meet the physical requirements of the position:
  • Work in a standing position and be able to twist, turn, reach, bend and grip.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a manufacturing environment using various pieces of equipment.
Pay:
From $22.00 per hour
