Job Description

Bottle Inspector
POSITION SUMMARY
Perform quality checks on bottles (labeled and unlabeled) to ensure company and industry standards are met.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform all quality assurance tests on a regular basis as they pertain to labeled and unlabeled bottles being produced. The number of test cycles performed on a specific bottle type will be determined by the length (in time) of the product runtime. Accurately record all measurements into the provided database. Verify that the production schedule is for the correct time period and review upcoming flavors and changeovers. Ensure that all labels and preforms needed for upcoming flavor changes are in the appropriate areas. If not, obtain the correct amount of label rolls from the shelves and notify the forklift operator/utility employee that more preform boxes are needed. If a problem occurs, notify the machine operator and be able to suggest possible solutions to resolve it. Assist operators with changeovers, if necessary. Provide breaks to the blow mold and label machine operators during a shift. Bottle inspectors need to be able to fully run the label machine and be able to start and stop the blow mold machine. Inspect machinery for broken, loose, or potentially harmful items. Expediate repairs, working with maintenance as necessary. Keep daily records of downtime and machine operations. Remove or shift materials and/or finished products to facilitate proper flow. Ensure package and product quality. Inspect equipment for repairs. Operate all manufacturing equipment (including new technologies) efficiently and safely. Clean equipment and area before, during, and after shift. Ensure that the product and/or supplies are being handled in a sanitary method consistent with GMP's and properly packaged. Maintain clean work area through good housekeeping practices. Work well with others in a team-orientated atmosphere. Other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS 18
years or older. High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Ability to operate a forklift. Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math. Must posses thorough understanding of plant machinery.
ABILITIES
Regular, reliable, predictable attendance. Review and adhere to all Carolina Canners policies, including safety and Good Manufacturing Policies. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent attention to detail/accuracy and multi-tasking skills. Must be self-motivated and can work with minimal supervision. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be physically and mentally able to successfully perform the essential elements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. The ability to hear, talk, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds. Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. Vision requirements to do this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving, and manipulating materials and parts. Must be able to safely lift up to 40 pounds on a periodic basis. Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of various types of materials and parts. This position requires walking or standing most of the time during the shift. Must be able to climb onto and off of machinery and forklift throughout the shift (8-10 hours per day).
