FLSA Status Non-Exempt Job Summary:
The Machine Operator 2 is responsible for the manufacturing, sanding, and finishing of elevator wall panels prior to shipment to installation sites. This role requires hands-on experience with woodworking equipment, surface preparation, and wood finishing techniques to ensure high-quality, consistent products that meet company and customer specifications.
Essential Duties and Functions:
Operate woodworking machinery and equipment to cut, shape, and assemble elevator wall componentsPerform sanding processes (manual and machine) to achieve smooth, defect-free surfacesEnsure consistent color and quality of paint and primer applicationInspect materials and finished products for defects, ensuring adherence to quality standardsFollow production schedules and meet daily output targetsMaintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety and housekeeping standardsPerform routine maintenance on machines and report any mechanical issuesRead and interpret work orders, blueprints, and specificationsCollaborate with team members and supervisors to improve processes and efficiency
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent2+ years of experience in woodworking, manufacturing, or a related fieldExperience with sanding techniques and equipmentKnowledge of wood finishing processes and materialsAbility to operate and maintain woodworking machinery safelyStrong attention to detail and quality craftsmanshipSpray Systems experienceAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in architectural millwork or panel manufacturingFamiliarity with elevator interior systems or similar productsUnderstanding of finishing systems such as spray application or automated finishing lines

Supervisory Responsibilities:

100% onsite position in a manufacturing/production facilityWork schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PMExposure to wood dust, noise, and finishing materials (PPE required)Fast-paced, team-oriented environment
