  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical or associate degree is preferred
  • Minimum 2 years' of demonstrated experience with twin screw extruders and plastics compounding; must be mechanically inclined
  • Operate a forklift
  • Ability to climb stairs routinely and lift 50 lbs.
  • Work 8 or 12 hour shifts on either days or nights Position Summary This is a key position that operates our proprietary extrusion and material forming technologies. This position works closely with the plant leadership and engineering team. Direct accountabilities are safe and efficient operation of the extruders, forming technology, and support systems. Role & Responsibilities
  • Be able to fulfill all roles and responsibilities of the Assistant Extrusion Operator
  • Start machines and set controls to operate a pre-defined recipe for a given product being produced.
  • Troubleshoot, dial in process, and ensure conformance to specifications; make adjustments on machines as required to conform to quality criteria.
  • Clean, maintain, tune extruder, extruder tooling and extrusion related machinery
  • Must work in a safe manner to avoid injury to self and co-workers, verify safety equipment is in place and working properly
  • Manage startup, operation, and shutdown of equipment that includes extruders, forming equipment, feeders, material delivery system, processing equipment, chiller, and air compressors.
  • Perform necessary housekeeping and cleaning of extruders to assure optimal performance.
  • Read and interpret specifications to ensure correct setup and process settings.
  • Monitor process settings throughout the shift, input necessary data, and monitor process data systems to assure consistent production and prevent process upsets.
  • Perform necessary quality assurance checks and test verifications.
  • Lead efforts to troubleshoot and correct non-conformances in the raw materials, process, and products.
  • Work closely with engineering and management team on planning and executing raw material and process trials.
  • Key contributor to process improvements and variation reduction; key focus on waste elimination and maximizing equipment uptime and efficiency.
  • Assist AEO (Assistant Extrusion Operator) with management of raw materials.
  • Demonstrate commitment to F-Wave Core Values by leading, acting and behaving in a manner consistent with these values.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Physical Demands

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Other Duties
