Assembly Specialist Location:
Houston, TX (Onsite)
Contract Duration:
8 months
Schedule:
12hr shifts (6am-6:30pm)

$32-$35 Job Summary The Assembly Specialist is responsible for the complete assembly and disassembly of gas turbine and compressor packages, sub-assemblies, and related components in a manufacturing environment. This role requires strong mechanical expertise, the ability to interpret complex technical documentation, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Assemble and disassemble gas turbine and compressor packages and related sub-assemblies Interpret assembly instructions, specifications, drawings, and blueprints Inventory, clean, stage, and visually inspect parts prior to assembly Perform precision measurements, alignments, and adjustments to meet tight tolerances Inspect, repair, replace, install, and maintain mechanical components Safely handle and move parts using rigging, forklifts, cranes, and lifting devices Identify assembly issues or deviations and escalate to engineering or management Document measurements, inspections, and completed work per quality requirements Perform minor repairs, cleaning, and maintenance activities Collaborate with engineering, quality, material control, and production teams Train and mentor less experienced assembly technicians Cross-train and assist with testing and packaging activities as needed Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED OR a minimum of 10 years of relevant gas turbine or compressor experience At least 5 years of experience assembling rotating equipment in a manufacturing environment Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of assembly processes Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, specifications, and work instructions Experience using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, indicators) Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, air grinders, and specialty torquing equipment Experience performing alignments, measurements, and machining adjustments Ability to obtain forklift and crane operator certifications Basic shop math skills and ability to perform measurement conversions Strong attention to detail and documentation skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship Preferred Qualifications Experience assembling gas turbines and compressor packages Experience with large rotating or turbomachinery equipment Previous experience training or mentoring technicians With over 90 years' combined experience, NES Fircroft (NES) is proud to be the world's leading engineering staffing provider spanning the Oil & Gas, Power & Renewables, Chemicals, Construction & Infrastructure, Life Sciences, Mining and Manufacturing sectors worldwide.
