Summary:

A boring machine operator controls a boring machine or similar drilling or mill machine to bore, ream, or drill holes in different materials, such as metal and plastic.

Responsibilities:

Setting-up, calibration, and maintenance of the machinery and other tools. Read technical specifications Operate the machines to drill holes in the objects. This may involve calibrating CNC equipment or other computer controlled machinery at the production facility. Remaining in challenging physical positions for long periods of time Lifting a minimum of 23 kilograms Monitoring equipment Maintaining a safe work environment Setting up machines so they are ready to use Following established rules and procedures Carrying out safety checks on the machinery

Requirements:

High school diploma or a GED certificate Prior experience with machining, mechanical tools, and computer programming. Be detail-oriented Having good verbal communication.
