Job Title:
Soldering Technician
  • Cable Assembly Precision Soldering Associate Job Description This role focuses on precision hand soldering and manual cable assembly for highly complex cable and wire harness solutions used in technology, industrial, aerospace, defense, and medical applications.
You will build and inspect printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), cable, wire, and harness interconnects in a high-mix, low-volume environment that follows strict quality, traceability, and regulatory standards. You will work to IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, J-STD-001, and customer-specific requirements while supporting both prototype and production builds in a clean, organized electronics manufacturing facility. Responsibilities Perform precision hand soldering using techniques such as solder cups, J-hooks, and through-hole methods to assemble and build highly complex cables and wire harnesses without damaging insulation or connectors. Assemble cable and wire harness products manually with a high level of accuracy, following IPC standards and engineering specifications. Inspect solder joints and assemblies for quality compliance to
IPC-A-610
Class II and III criteria, IPC-A-620, J-STD-001, and customer-specific standards. Use soldering irons, magnification tools (such as mag-lights), microscopes, and ESD-safe tools safely and effectively during assembly and inspection. Interpret and follow engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and assembly documentation to ensure accurate builds and adherence to detailed instructions. Identify and promptly report nonconformances, process deviations, and quality issues to support corrective actions and continuous improvement. Maintain ESD compliance at all times and ensure safe handling of sensitive electronic components where required. Support process engineers and production leads in troubleshooting assembly and solder-related defects and in implementing process improvements. Participate in 5S and Lean manufacturing initiatives to maintain an organized, efficient, and safe workspace. Accurately complete production records, inspection logs, and traceability documentation in compliance with AS9100 and ITAR-related requirements. Support a wide variety of cable and wire harness production activities by performing additional duties as needed, including prototype and production builds. Work effectively as part of a team to meet production schedules and quality goals within a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. Essential Skills Proficiency in precision hand soldering for cable and wire harness assembly, including solder cups, J-hooks, and through-hole soldering techniques. Ability to meet and apply IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, and
J-STD-001
soldering standards in wire harness and cable assembly (certification preferred). Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills for detailed soldering and assembly work on small components and intricate harnesses. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, diagrams, work instructions, and other assembly documentation. Attention to detail and a strong focus on quality standards, including precise crimping, soldering, documentation, and testing. Excellent hand-eye coordination and reliable color vision to distinguish wire color coding and other color-coded components. Ability to use small hand tools, soldering irons, magnification tools, microscopes, and ESD-safe equipment effectively and safely. Basic math and technical understanding to support accurate measurements, counts, and interpretation of technical information. Ability to maintain ESD compliance and handle sensitive electronic components correctly. Capability to identify, document, and report nonconformances and quality issues clearly and promptly. Additional Skills & Qualifications IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, and
J-STD-001
certifications in soldering and wire harness/cable assembly are strongly preferred. Experience working in an electronics manufacturing environment producing PCBAs, cable assemblies, or wire harnesses. Familiarity with AS9100 and ITAR-related documentation, traceability, and compliance expectations. Experience participating in 5S and Lean manufacturing initiatives. Comfort working with microscopes and other magnification tools for detailed inspection of solder joints and assemblies. Ability to support both prototype and production builds in a high-mix, low-volume environment. Work Environment The role is based in a clean electronics manufacturing facility focused on high-quality PCBAs, cable, wire, and harness assemblies. You will work at your own dedicated workstation, completing your portion of the assembly process within a structured production flow. The environment follows ESD controls, and you will wear a smock and ESD shoe straps while on the production floor to protect sensitive electronic components. Operations adhere to ISO 9001, AS9100, and ITAR standards, emphasizing traceability, compliance, and quality. You will use soldering irons, microscopes, mag-lights, and other ESD-safe tools as part of daily work. The standard schedule is Monday
  • Friday (Occasional Saturdays): 7am
  • 3:30pm or 3pm
  • 11:30pm. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plano, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00
  • $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
