Job Description
Founded in 1983 by principal shareholder William I. Koch, Oxbow Carbon LLC ("Oxbow") is a global leader in recycling, marketing, and upgrading of refinery and natural gas coproducts. Oxbow produces and distributes calcined and fuel grade petroleum coke and provides bulk storage and handling services for petroleum coke and other commodities. Summary Operates or manages conveyors or conveyor systems that transport materials or products between stockpiles, processing stations, various departments, or vehicles. Essential Job Duties Conducts pre-use inspections of mobile equipment using the designated form, services equipment after use, and submits a completed daily checklist by the end of each shift.
Operates mobile equipment carefully to prevent damage and ensure long-term reliability.
Ensures coke is properly segregated into the appropriate storage piles.
Loads raw and calcined coke according to specified grades and quantities as directed.
Performs routine maintenance on mobile equipment, such as replacing oil and air filters, adding or changing oil, and lubricating parts.
Troubleshoots equipment to address operational issues.
Notifies the supervisor of any equipment malfunctions requiring attention.
Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains equipment and work areas using tools like hand tools, shovels, brooms, chemicals, hoses, and lubricants.
Operates controls, levers, and valves to start pumps, auxiliary equipment, or conveyors, and adjusts equipment settings for position, speed, timing, and material flow.
Monitors conveyor operations and silo levels to maintain specified operating conditions and detect malfunctions.
Weighs or measures materials and products using scales or other instruments, or reads conveyor scales to confirm specified tonnages and avoid overloads.
Communicates with the Control Room Operator to verify that the correct blend is loaded into the proper raw coke silos.
Stops machinery to clear jams using poles, bars, and hand tools, or removes damaged materials from conveyors.
Adjusts deflector bars, gates, chutes, or spouts to direct the flow of materials from one conveyor to another.
Supports management with special projects, workflow improvements, and other assigned duties.
Assists other personnel as needed with tasks outside of the primary job description. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Communicates clearly and concisely in a variety of communication settings and styles. Effectively tailors the message to the needs of the audience.
Establishes goals and objectives which are specific, measurable, achievable and relevant.
