reviews $21.87 an hour - Full-time Operate winder to make billets from high density polyethylene (HDPE) following pre-established formulation. Operate pelletizer to create pellets of HDPE from regrinded material.
Responsibilities:
Make billets from HDPE by operating winder. Manually heat mandrel using propane torches for extruded profile. Load program from computer memory based on instructions on white board. Operate manual infrared gun to verify temperature of billets. Report time and weight of billet on appropriate form. Use hoist to remove finished billet from winder after proper temperature has been reached. Use forklift to transport billet to scale and then to staging area. Follow lead of Extruder Operator II or III to operate machine. Write down serial number and weight on report. Operate band saw to cut ends and leftover billet into smaller pieces. Recycle shavings from lathes by using forklift to pick up boxes of shavings and transport to grinder where box is emptied. Control the fines on water ring. Pick boxes of regrinded HDPE with red labels from the rack and reload contents manually into hopper. Check the receiving hopper every two hours to dump pellets into a box. Pick up box of repelletized HDPE with forklift and store in racks with a yellow label. Clean work areas using industrial broom and rags. Use chainsaw to cut parts of HDPE that are not suitable for band saw. Operate big chainsaw to cut billets when there is an overflow in production. Run tests for the Quality Assurance Department. Abide by IPP's safety and Health Policies and Procedures including wearing proper PPE and maintaining a safe work environment. Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
At least one year of relevant experience and/or Associates degree in Industrial Sciences or combination of the two.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong verbal communication skills to communicate process status and mechanical issues to maintenance technician. Written communication skills to document billets produced during shift. Basic mathematical skills to use a measuring tape. Experience operating a forklift. Position requires continuous presence at plant to operate and perform role.
Physical Conditions:
Occasional lifting of up to 300lbs with help of a hoist. Exposure to high temperature in facility. Position requires constant standing to operate winder and pelletizer. Overtime may be required on occasion.
