Position Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Machine Operator to support our steel bar grating manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for operating production equipment used in the fabrication of steel bar grating while ensuring quality, eUiciency, and adherence to safety and production standards. The Machine Operator works closely with supervisors, maintenance, and quality teams in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate production machinery used in the manufacturing of steel bar grating, including edging lines, serrating lines, slitting line, forgewelders, etc. Set up machines according to work orders and job specifications Load raw steel materials and unload finished grating products safely and eUiciently Monitor machine operation to ensure proper function, quality output, and production eUiciency Perform in-process quality inspections to verify dimensions, spacings, weld integrity, and overall product compliance Inspect finished steel bar grating for defects, damage, or non-conformance to specifications Document production counts, scrap, downtime, and quality issues accurately Communicate equipment issues, material shortages, or quality concerns to supervisors promptly Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company and OSHA safety standards Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, and safe material handling practices Assist with basic machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance tasks as required Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and production efficiency.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred Experience working with steel, metal fabrication, or heavy industrial equipment is a plus Ability to read and interpret work orders, measurements, and use basic Math. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment and processes Ability to stand for extended periods Dependable, hardworking, and self-motivated Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards Good Communication skills: Fluent in English Interstate Gratings is an equal-opportunity employer.
