Job Description

Job Title:
Machine Operations Job Description The New Hire Utility role supports tube mill operations by learning to operate production equipment, handling aluminum products, and assisting with extrusion and casting processes in a heavy manufacturing environment. You start as a Utility employee, rotating through multiple departments to learn machine operation, quality, packing, inspection, and material handling before moving into a permanent role in a specific department. You work as part of a team to meet production goals while following safe work practices, standard operating procedures, and strict quality standards in a union environment. Responsibilities Learn to operate equipment associated with the tube mill and extrusion processes, including extrusion and casting machinery. Support tube mill operations by assisting machine operators, moving materials on and off machines, and maintaining production flow. Use proper lifting techniques, hoists, and material handling equipment to safely move aluminum products and other materials. Perform machine operating tasks, including starting, stopping, monitoring, and assisting with adjustments under the direction of experienced operators or leads. Conduct visual inspections and quality checks on products to ensure they meet all quality objectives and specifications. Perform packing, labeling, and preparation of finished products for shipment or further processing. Accurately complete required documentation, logs, and production records using clear verbal and written communication. Report and review any unusual conditions, equipment issues, or quality concerns with lead operators or supervisors promptly. Essential Skills 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or material handling environment. Experience in general labor, production support, or assembly line work. Basic machine operation or machine assembly experience, with an understanding of how raw materials flow through a production process. Ability to perform material handling tasks, including loading and unloading materials safely. Experience with hand tools and basic manufacturing tools and equipment. Ability to perform visual inspection, quality checks, and basic quality control tasks. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chester, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.31 - $20.31/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
