Machine Operator

New Hire Utility - Machine Operator Training Role The New Hire Utility position is a direct pathway into machine operation within the tube mill. This role is ideal for candidates who want to work with industrial equipment, learn multiple production machines, and grow into a permanent machine operator position through internal promotion. You will start as a utility employee, receive full cross‑training on extrusion and tube mill machinery , and then move into a specific department as a machine operator based on performance and internal bidding. ⭐ What You'll Do (Machine‑Focused Responsibilities) Learn to operate extrusion and tube mill equipment by following all machine SOPs and safe operating practices. Assist machine operators with machine setup and adjustments to keep production running efficiently. Handle aluminum products on and off machines using hoists, lifts, and material handling tools . Load raw materials into machines, feed product through equipment, and stage materials for the next production step. Perform visual inspections and quality checks to ensure products meet specifications. Report equipment issues, unusual machine behavior, or quality concerns to lead operators or supervisors. Operate basic production tools, presses, and equipment safely in a manufacturing environment. Support quality control procedures by documenting findings and following established standards. Maintain a clean, safe work area, including cleaning grease, oil, and hydraulic fluids common in machine environments. Participate in cross‑training across machine operation, quality, packing, inspection, and material handling. ⭐ What Makes You a Great Fit 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing or machine‑focused labor . Experience with machine operation, assembly, or production processes. Mechanical aptitude and interest in learning extrusion, tube mill, and other industrial machinery. Ability to perform quality checks and basic inspection work. Comfortable working all three shifts (7-3, 3-11, 11-7) as the tube mill rotates. ⭐ Preferred Skills Prior machine operating experience in a production environment. Experience with assembly lines, production support, or packaging. Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety. Positive attitude and willingness to learn multiple machines and departments. Appreciation for a team‑oriented environment built on core values. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.81 - $20.81/hr.
