Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Sawyer to join our aerospace machine shop team. This role is responsible for cutting raw materials to precise specifications in support of aerospace component manufacturing. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and eager to learn machining processes in a high-precision environment. Key Responsibilities Operate band saws and other cutting equipment to cut metal and composite materials to specified dimensions Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings Measure and verify material dimensions using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools Maintain tight tolerances and ensure accuracy of all cuts Label, organize, and stage materials for downstream machining processes Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of saw equipment Follow all shop safety procedures, including proper use of PPE Assist with material handling, inventory tracking, and general shop duties as needed Communicate effectively with machinists, supervisors, and quality personnel Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Previous experience in manufacturing, construction, or a machine shop environment preferred but not required Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools Ability to read a tape measure and learn precision measurement tools Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly Ability to stand for extended periods Comfortable working in a noisy industrial environment Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistent accuracy Preferred Qualifications (Not Required) Exposure to metalworking or machining processes OSHA safety training or similar certifications Forklift operation experience Work Environment This position operates in a fast-paced aerospace machine shop where precision, cleanliness, and adherence to strict quality standards are essential.
