This includes start-up, operation, adjustment to proper parameters, preventative maintenance, trouble shooting, and cleaning of the equipment. This position will work closely with and take primary direction from the Packaging Line Specialist, but also work with the rest of the production team. This position reports to the Director of Operations. The Packaging Operator will be cross trained in multiple areas and is responsible for many aspects related to packaging, housekeeping, and any other processes required to achieve a final product ready for packaging. This person must be hard-working, responsible, reliable, and self-motivated individual with a passion for a quality finished product. Essential Job Functions include but not limited to: Stop the job for safety. Communicate and manage potential hazards. Safely operate all packaging equipment and machinery, including can filler/seamer, date coder, labeler, and depalletizer. Work with brewing team to reduce beer loss and maintain product consistency and canning efficiencies. Perform regular quality checks to ensure proper seam specifications and accurately record data. CIP (clean in place) the canning line and other brewing equipment. Following SOPs in each phase of brewing, fermentation, packaging, and CIP. Perform routine inspections and responsible for completing minor adjustments and repairs; performing preventative maintenance; troubleshooting emergency maintenance problems of packaging line and conveying system. Enter all packaging data into brewery management system (Ekos) as directed. Coordinate with brewing team for appropriate quality checks on all packaged products. Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly production records are filled out completely and accurately. Responsible for consistent and effective communications with co-workers and management team. Carry out the company's vision by maintaining a premium craft brand with quality at the front of mind. Safe work practices and leading by example to uphold safety in all areas of the operation. Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Qualifications:
Education & Experience High School diploma or GED required A minimum of 1 year of experience in a consumer-packaged goods manufacturing environment. Ability to successfully complete Forklift Certification testing is required within 3 months of start date (or 90 days) - a current Forklift Certification is preferred. Ideal candidate must have experience troubleshooting and repairing high speed equipment in a manufacturing facility. Knowledge, Skills & Ability Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational habits. Motivated work ethic and good critical thinking/problem solving skills. Basic understanding of all aspects of brewing including cellaring, yeast handling, CIP and sanitization. Flexibility in terms of hours and a willingness to work night shifts, weekends, and overtime. Computer literate with a demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to multi-task. Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.Preferable Experience:
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and working knowledge in a production facility. Prior experience within manufacturing systems including pumps, valves, PLC, controls, and sensors. Welding experience a plus. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.Physical Requirements:

This employee regularly works with hazardous machinery, materials, chemicals, wet floors and with wet equipment. This employee regularly works around high voltage, hot water, and steam Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Heavy physical work including climbing stairs, pulling hoses, etc. Willing to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment. Ability to handle heavy objects safely and with proper body mechanics. Frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and routinely maneuver objects weighing up to 165 lbs. Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell. Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
