PURPOSE STATEMENT
This position is responsible for performing science material/curriculum center (SMC) and print shop duties. This person will receive and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment. This position works closely on a team with other skilled craft and trades employees to provide support and customer service in the facilities and operations of Walla Walla Public Schools.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintain warehouse, Science Materials Center, and Printshop in orderly manner. Support coordination of all district printing. Operate copiers, wide-format printers, cutting machine, drill press, envelope printer, folder, etc. Verify accuracy of orders using printshop software. Update printshop software with current stock pricing on a regular basis. Produce monthly printshop reports. Provide cost estimates of printing jobs as requested. Order special materials and equipment for the printing department. Stock and fill orders for district printed materials for schools and departments. Assist filling paper drawers multiple times daily. Provide maintenance and/or minor repair of printshop equipment. Create, compile and maintain spreadsheets and other databases. At times, assist with the receipt and distribution of materials, supplies, and equipment coming through the warehouse. Operate forklift, hand truck and pallet jacks. At times, assist in loading and unloading vehicles using forklift and pallet jacks. Coordinate with Director of Facilities and Operations in regard to furniture and equipment purchasing. Coordinate with and support other facility employees to ensure tasks get completed. Maintain effective communication with students, parents, staff, and the public for safety, security and positive public relations. May serve on various district committees and/or departmental work teams. Models appropriate and cooperative behavior, including protecting confidential information, consistent with district ethical guidelines. Required to deal with a wide range of individuals and needs in a positive and service oriented manner.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Required to stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to perform tasks requiring moderate to heavy physical exertion. Must be able to twist the upper torso and neck and kneel frequently. Must have good upper body strength to handle, grasp and grip objects on a constant basis using the upper extremities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience High School diploma or GED Previous experience using print software and/or commercial print equipment is preferred. Previous experience driving forklift preferred. Strong knowledge of spreadsheets and databases using Excel and/or Google. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Basic mechanical abilities and motor skills. Ability to use current software and technology related to the printing industry. Ability to work well under pressure and achieve results in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines and strong attention to detail. Must possess a strong work ethic and proven ability to work independently. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Ability to create and use electronic spreadsheets and use other computer software as necessary. Knowledge of InDesign and Canva are preferred. Demonstrated flexibility and the ability to adjust to a variety of needs, demands and changing conditions. Strong organizational skills. Licenses/Special Requirements Requires fingerprinting and background check. Must complete Walla Walla Public Schools Risk Management and Bloodborne Pathogens Training upon hire. Valid driver's license and a good driving record. Must be forklift certified or able to obtain license.
