  • Full-time Job Overview Gumz Farms is seeking an experienced Machine and Process Operator to oversee critical production and packaging operations within our food manufacturing facility.
This role is responsible for operating, monitoring, and optimizing production processes to ensure product quality, food safety, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical resource on the production floor, driving continuous improvement initiatives, supporting troubleshooting efforts, and helping achieve daily production goals while maintaining compliance with company and customer standards. Responsibilities Operate, monitor, and optimize production and packaging equipment to maximize efficiency, throughput, and product quality. Lead process control activities by monitoring key production metrics, identifying trends, and making adjustments to maintain optimal operating conditions. Perform product changeovers while minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency. Troubleshoot process, equipment, and product quality issues and implement corrective actions. Analyze production flow and identify opportunities to improve yields, reduce waste, and increase line performance. Ensure compliance with all food safety, GMP, HACCP, and customer-specific requirements. Monitor product specifications, package integrity, weights, labeling accuracy, and date coding to ensure customer compliance. Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, and Production teams to resolve operational issues and improve line performance. Support preventive maintenance activities and perform basic mechanical adjustments, inspections, and equipment setup. Maintain accurate production records, downtime tracking, quality documentation, and operational reports. Train and mentor new operators on equipment operation, process standards, food safety requirements, and best practices. Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Assist with startup, shutdown, sanitation verification, and process validation activities. Monitor production schedules and proactively adjust operations to meet customer demand and production targets. Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work environment. Demonstrate leadership through effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and accountability. Serve as a role model for safety, food safety, quality, and operational excellence. Requirements 3+ years of manufacturing, food processing, packaging, or industrial production experience preferred. Strong understanding of production processes, equipment operation, and process troubleshooting. Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, SOPs, and quality specifications. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment adjustments and troubleshooting. Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency with production documentation and data collection. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments. Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred. Commitment to safety, food safety, and quality excellence.
