Laser Operator The Laser Operator is responsible for CNC Fiber & C02 Laser Set-up/Operation as well as managing material exchange from an automated storage system.
Shift :
1st & 2nd Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. Perform setups and operations on CNC Fiber & C02 Lasers. Check material thickness for accuracy and load material into laser stocker. Perform assigned work to time standards and quality expectations. Identify and solve machine alignment and cut condition problems. Troubleshoot minor program errors independently. Cross Train across multiple laser platforms and cells. Account for time and work completed via online computer data collection system. Safely operate a forklift to handle materials and complete work. Make routine decisions and use problem solving to resolve basic manufacturing issues. Report and document basic material, production, and quality control issues. Maintain performance logbooks on assigned area equipment, report deficiencies to the maintenance team. Participate in equipment preventative maintenance at the operator level. Assist in other departments during slow periods as needed. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience 2 years' experience preferred Use of precision measuring equipment Basic shop math & dimensional measuring Knowledge of variety of materials, appropriate cutting conditions, consumables, programming Familiarity with MAZAK equipment preferred Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and routings Written and verbal communication skills Physical Demands While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee is occasionally required to walk, use foot/feet to operate machine, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach above shoulders and move from place to place. The incumbent will regularly stand, sit, and talk and listen and will frequently use hands to finger, handle, or touch. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. During the performance of his/her work duties, the incumbent will be required to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds and will frequently lift up to 10 pounds such as moving parts from material storage and moving parts in and out of work area. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee works in a factory environment and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and chemicals.
