Work from drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine operational sequence; set tools and select and set speeds and feeds according to type of material and finish requirements. • Operates machine tools such as; lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, or special purpose equipment according to production specifications and needs.
• Verifies conformance of machined work to specifications using measuring instruments such as; calipers, micrometers, and fixed or telescoping gauges.
• Reads and interprets machining instructions, job orders, and blueprints to determine dimensional specifications, sequences of operations, setups, and tooling requirements.
• Selects and sets cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cuts, and cutting tools according to machining instructions or knowledge of metal properties.
• Ensures safety operating procedures are followed throughout projects.
